We didn't get to drive this road, because only 4WD vehicles are allowed (25% grade). I'm not sad about this at all. It looked scary. Hiking? Maybe, someday when the kids are older. And maybe not even then, because the 50 or so people who live in the secluded valley are reclusive, and would probably rather be left alone.
From the observational area where we were allowed, these pretty flowers were begging to have their picture made:
Way, way down below, lies Waipi'o Valley. The coastline beyond this field of view to the right, is stunningly beautiful:
