Dinner at Bubba Gump's

We rested for a while this afternoon, drank lots of fluids, and went into Kailua for supper. Just down the road from our place, also on Ali'i Drive, is a Gatlinburg-esque stretch that is right on the water. Bill had a hankering for shrimp, so we ate at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company. I got one of their fresh catches (Ono) over Jasmine rice with a pineapple mango salsa, and it was some of the best fish I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned - it was all about the fish, and it was simply wonderful.

We were seated on the back porch, which is maybe 20' from the water, and it was one of the more relaxing meals I've had in a while. The guidebook I'm loving (Andrew Doughty's Hawaii The Big Island Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook, 5th Edition, Wizard Publications) mentioned that Bubba Gump's back porch was one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset. I'll have to agree - it was beautiful. Bill got some nice shots with his fancy photo app (further below).

Me: "Let me get a shot of all 3 of you":

"Give me the crazy face":

"Give me your sad face":

"Now give me the most serious, no-silliness face" (them giggling):

Frog near pool at condo - as big as your fist. Kids stole one more swim out of the day before dropping like stones onto the bed. Another great day in Hawai'i.
