After supper, we found the bookstore we'd seen when we first drove into town yesterday. They were open, so we went to see if there might be anything that would be interesting for the kiddos given that we have our longest haul of the whole trip tomorrow - to Tonopah, Nevada, our stopover on the way to Yosemite Nat'l Park.
Josie found the next book in her series, Mitch found a book about a snowboarder, Sam found a mystery book, Bill found a book about the geology of Zion NP, and I found an easy kakuro book (kind of like sudoku), which I like to do to wind my brain down before bed. So, everybody got something. :)
The bookstore owner was a nice man - everyone out here is nice (who wouldn't be? they live in heaven) - he shared this old saying with the kids:
'Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.'
Har har. :) They loved it. They liked the dog better - such a sweetheart. He walked right up to us, smiling and wagging his tail and demanding to be loved on. Precious. Mitch would have stayed there all night.
More shots of Zion on our way back in. Can't fully describe the magnitude and beauty of this place. The blog app I'm using doesn't put the pictures in the order I select them. App fail. Possibly user error. User not savvy enough to figure out a better way or willing to risk trying out a better app. This will have to be good enough for now. Hoping I can rearrange picture order later when I'm on a real computer.
Bill just went down to the gift shop and bought the kids some water bottle holders. I'm guessing he's not wanting to fish out any more dropped bottles. ;) After Sam's dropped bottle that rolled off the trail and landed 10 feet below, stopped only by a brambly thicket, and a dozen others that happily didn't roll off the trail and down into an unreachable resting spot, these seem like smart purchases.
