Washington DC 2013

After the Natural History Museum and a little sugar pick-me-up in the form of a Rice Krispie treat, we walked along the mall from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial, stopping at the WWII Memorial along the way.

Since it'd have been just as far to walk to the nearest Metro station as it would've been to just walk back to our hotel, we decided to walk back. We ate at Burger Tap and Shake - delicious burgers and even more delicious shakes.

Now we're back in the room, the kids are writing in their journals while the day's adventures are fresh on their minds, and in a little while the obligatory nightly trips to the pool will commence. Heaven help us if they have to close it for repairs. I have reminded the crew that DC is beautiful at night, so we have agreed that at some point we'll set out after dark - but not tonight. =)

If you zoom in, that's the Capitol waaaay down there.

Closed to visitors during maintenance/repairs. :(

If you zoom in, you can see the White House.
